Andreas Gajdošík

1.6. 18:00 Game presentation + Artist Talk

For Re-connect Art, Andreas presents Feed’Em, a video game project that explores hidden social media algorithms. During the game, the player monitors the flow of new posts, shares, comments, targeted ads and likes and determines the users to whom the content will be shown and those from whom it will be concealed. Acting as an absolutely powerful social media algorithm, the player becomes an invisible and unreliable narrator of users’ life stories and presenter of their identities, which in turn shape the opinions and attitudes of the users.

Andreas Gajdošík (*1992, Brno) graduated from the Studio of Intermedia at the Faculty of Fine Arts at Brno University of Technology. He is a member of the audio performance band European Union. Was member of dissolved Pavel Ondračka collective. He holds the Jindrich Chalupecky Award from 2019.
He focuses on useful art, socially engaged projects and artivism which often incorporate programming, new technologies and interventional provocative attitudes. He is interested in ethical source software, sharing, DIY culture and experimental forms.

He presents his work in public space, whether physical or virtual. His work consists in interventions in social media and the media sphere, programming hoax software and creating fictitious websites to form a space for critical reflection of the established structures of the art world as well as of politics and its extreme positions. Through performance, programming and audio actions, he makes an ironic and satiric commentary striving to change the status quo. Gajdošík has introduced his work on the independent Czech and Slovak gallery scene as well as at Zurich’s Cabaret Voltaire at Manifesta 11 (2016).
